What is a Podcast?
Podcasting is a method for delivering audio and video over the Internet. A podcast is an MP3 file placed on the web for you to download and listen to on your computer or portable MP3. The 'IPod' is a prime example of a portable MP3 player, and this is where the term “podcasting” originated.
Listening to these podcasts is easy. You can listen directly on your PC or you can subscribe via your portable MP3 players such as the Apple Ipod and any other portable MP3 Player.

Just download the Reader and then follow the instructions given to add new feeds. It’s easy and once you have it set up, it will automatically download our new shows for you every week. You can play the audios right in the Access Conscious Kids Reader or open them in your favorite media player.
Once you get started, it's like having your favorite parts of the Web come to you. No need to go out and check for updates all the time.
"RSS" means "Really Simple Syndication." What it means to you is that when you subscribe to a site that has an RSS feed, you can keep up-to-date without having to check the site every day or week.
To transfer our audio files to your Mp3 player, please follow your manufacturer’s instructions. How does it get any better than this?
So what’s the difference between an MP3 and a podcast?
At the audio level, nothing. The difference is in the delivery. Podcasting isn’t the same as “streaming,” where a file plays back from a server. Many websites place an MP3 on their site, and say that they have a “podcast” — however, this is not the true podcasting. To really qualify the file as a “podcast” requires setting it up so that it can be accessed via an RSS feed, whether from our site at www.accessconsciouskids.com, the iTunes site, or some other RSS host/directory server.
With podcasting, the MP3 file can be downloaded by you onto your hard drive. At that point, you can play it on your computer, or choose to transfer it over to your MP3 player to listen to while on the go.
